The founders
Fiona Forbes, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer
Fiona Forbes is a certified health expert. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours (UK) in Health and Education. Also, she holds certifications from FDNP in the United States and dipSN in the United Kingdom. Not only a certified nutritionist, personal trainer and weight loss specialist, she also has specialised knowledge in thyroid function and gut health. As a recognition for her contributions to healthcare and disease prevention, Fiona was honored with a medal from the Duke of Kent.
“From a young age, I faced significant health challenges, including meningitis, persistent coeliac disease and thyroid issues, along with all the symptoms that come with them. I also battled fertility issues and had miscarriages. Despite numerous medical consultations, my symptoms persisted. Frustrated by conventional treatments that provided only temporary relief, I sought lasting solutions through personalised health. By using precise and tailor-made methods such as hormone balancing and gut restoration, I managed to regain my strength and energy. Eventually, I successfully reclaimed my health.”
Manon Schermer, co-founder and business partner
Manon Schermer has been called a serial entrepreneur — and for good reason. After being a fashion model for years, she launched her first company at the age of 22. Since that day she both invested in and launched a series of successful organisations. In 2023, she co-founded Forbes.health, motivated by her own experiences in overcoming various health challenges by applying functional medicine. Her personal story drives her commitment to making functional medicine accessible to everyone, regardless of their location worldwide.
“As a child, I suffered from various conditions, with multiple allergies playing a significant role. My parents consulted many specialists but treatments often relieved my symptoms only temporarily. I simply seemed unable to grow into sustainable health. This became particularly evident later, when I became seriously ill. Eventually, a malfunctioning thyroid developed, causing my heart, kidneys, liver and immune system to struggle. I delved into thyroid issues and soon discovered functional medicine, which transformed my health.”
A new start
Fiona Forbes and Manon Schermer met in 2020. After exchanging their life stories they recognised the importance of building on their experiences and insights to offer functional medicine to all. Forbes.health was launched in August 2023 and a new journey started. With a clear mission: to support you on your journey to better health — because everyone deserves to be the best version of themselves.

Radically personal
You are the only one who feels what’s going on in your body. So you know when something isn’t right. And you may have been struggling with persistent health issues for quite a while. Despite being told your results are normal, you still experience discomfort. That’s where we come in. We want to understand and support you, with compassion and respect for your troubles. We delve into the underlying issues and we do not stop until we have found the root cause. By doing so, we empower you to regain your health and well-being.
Normal isn’t always normal
Do you recognise this? You have had tests done by your general practitioner and they told you that the results are ‘normal’ (fig. a). But actually, many results in the normal range are at the very low or very high end of normal. It’s these functionally low or high levels that may be responsible for your symptoms.
From a functional perspective we should always aim for optimal levels (fig. b) instead of so-called normal levels. In the middle of this range is where you start to be your best. And that’s exactly the spot that functional medicine was designed to bring you to.
